My Trainee Experience at FF

Are you interested in low-code solutions and considering applying for the trainee program at FF? Wondering about the application process and what the first few months are like? If so, keep reading as I share my personal experience of my trainee journey.
Discovering the FF Trainee Program
After spending three and a half years studying in Hämeenlinna, I felt a strong pull back to the metropolitan area, closer to my friends and family. More than anything, I wanted to land a job in my field right after graduation, to start building my skills and gain experience.
Throughout my studies, I had become interested in Power Platform tools and low-code development. So when I discovered the FF trainee program, it felt like the perfect fit. But I couldn’t stop wondering, would my internship experience be enough to get my foot in the door? Entering the industry with limited work experience can be challenging, but everyone has to start somewhere, right?
The application process was smooth and straightforward. I submitted my CV, a cover letter and a short introduction video. There were two interviews, the first one online, and for the second, I chose to travel to the office in person. I was impressed when FF offered to cover my train tickets. It was a small but meaningful gesture that left a great first impression. I was also given a task, which I knew we would discuss in the second interview. Every interaction with the company felt warm and professional.
When I received the news that I had been accepted into the trainee program, I was so excited that I started packing before even figuring out where I’d be moving! Finally, I had a reason to return to Helsinki, and more importantly, a chance to step into working life and gain the experience I had been longing for. Now, I could explore these technologies in depth, work on something I was truly passionate about, and learn from experts in the field. What more could I ask for?
The First Day
When the first day finally arrived, I felt a mix of nerves and excitement. I met the other trainees in the waiting area and quickly realized we were all in the same boat, equally nervous but also excited. There were four of us, and though we didn’t say much at first, just knowing I wasn’t alone made everything feel less intimidating.
We had received a schedule for our first few days well in advance, so we knew what to expect. From the moment we stepped into the office, we were welcomed with warm smiles and friendly faces. Despite remote work being common, many colleagues had made the effort to come to the office and meet us in person, which meant a lot.
We had a tour of the office and spent the first few hours setting up our work devices. Then came the moment to introduce ourselves to the entire company. Despite the nerves, I can confidently say we all did great! Next, we had our official photos taken and joined our first weekly meetings.
The following days included settling in, learning about the company’s values and ways of working, and getting comfortable in our new roles. I have also got the chance to get to know my team, which is a group full of expertise and good humor.
Two Months In
Now, two months into the trainee program, I can confidently say that this experience has been nothing but positive. I have a clear understanding of my role, how the trainee program will progress, and what’s expected of me. More importantly, I feel like I have the tools and support I need to succeed.
My days have been filled with onboarding sessions, workshops, and absorbing as much knowledge as possible. I have the opportunity to work either at the office or remotely from home. I’ve noticed that I get more done at the office, and it’s also nice to meet colleagues face to face. The office feels cozy and peaceful, and there is the option to work ether in a quiet space or in the open area, where you can chat with colleagues.
I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with my team on development projects and customer work, which has been both exciting and rewarding. We also work together towards certifications, and as trainees, learning is a key part of our daily routine. That’s the nature of this industry overall, technology evolves, new tools emerge, and old ones fade away, so continuous learning is essential.
Getting to know my colleagues is still an ongoing process, but one thing is clear, the FF community is something special. While we work in smaller teams, there’s a strong sense of unity across the entire company. I love how FF encourages team building activities such as sports, and truly values a healthy work-life balance. Everyone here is welcoming, helpful, and genuinely passionate about what they do. On top of that, having the other trainees by my side has made this experience even more memorable.
Final Thoughts
If anything, my excitement has only grown since I started the trainee program. There’s just so much to learn in this field, and I feel incredibly fortunate to be in an environment that encourages growth and development. I’m looking forward to everything ahead, the learning, the challenges, and all the moments that will shape my journey.
This is only the beginning, and I can’t wait to see where it takes me.
